During the past 15 years, French literature between Louis IV and Napoleon III has been re-evaluated, resulting in important new publications and editions of Beauvarlet-Charpentier, Miroir, Sejan, Lasceux, Francois-Gervais Couperin, Boely, Niedermeyer, Schmidt, Benoist, Chauvet, and other signficant composers. The organbuilding of the period, represented by such giants as Dom Bedos, Francois-Henri Clicquot, Hamel, the Dallery family, the Callinet family, Daublaine and Callinet, and the young Aristide Cavaille-Coll, merits further study inasmuch as this post-classical style resulted in new combinations, forming the basis of later symphonic registration. | |
